Whole-School Computing Overview

At Queen Victoria, our computing curriculum is ambitious and is taught through inspiring and engaging lessons which are aligned to the National Curriculum for Computing, Technology and Digital Competence. It exposes children to a wide variety of digital tools, technological skills, and innovations. In a rapidly changing digital world our computing lesson intend to equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity in response.

Computing is taught weekly through Purple Mash and is made up of the following components

  • Computer science
  • Digital Literacy and Information Technology.
  • Online Safety and digital citizenship

 

Through our curriculum, we ensure that pupils understand online safety with the advantage and disadvantages associated with the internet. With an ever increasing need to educate our pupils in the way that they can keep themselves and others happy and safe within the online community our curriculum ensures that pupils understand the importance of being respectful and responsible online.
