PSHE Progression of Skills
At Queen Victoria we aim for our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE)education including Relationship and Sex Education (RSE), is to cultivate a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to lead healthy, happy lives.
Through our curriculum we aim to foster emotional well-being, equipping children with the ability to understand their emotions and manage their feelings effectively. We also promote healthy relationships through teaching children the importance of respectful relationships and the right to feel safe within them. We provide pupils with practical knowledge on setting personal goals and developing resilience as well as preparing children for life’s challenges by equipping them with the skills to make safe choices and seek help when necessary. We ensure that our curriculum is age-appropriate and inclusive.
Our PSHE/RSE curriculum is taught weekly through the Jigsaw programme, a well-structured and carefully planned approach that ensures that all aspects of the National Curriculum are covered in an engaging and age-appropriate manner as well as aligning
with the school’s CARE values.
In addition to being taught discretely, PSHE is embedded across the curriculum linking with English, Science, PE, History and Geography enabling children to apply their learning in various contexts.
